- The University of Michigan's Nurse-Midwifery Education Program offers many pathways to becoming a Certified Nurse-Midwife. In order to reach out to students outside the Ann Arbor area, we are currently expanding our program by putting the curriculum on the web. In the future, less trips to the Ann Arbor campus will be required. Basic masters students may choose from two, two and one half, three year full-time/part-time curriculum or a four year part-time curriculum of study. For students who already have a Masters degree, a two year part-time curriculum is offered.

The Birthwise Midwifery School is one of only a dozen or so accredited direct-entry midwifery schools in the United States. Since no nursing degree is required, direct-entry midwives can be certified and practicing within 3 years.
